Topshop Lipsticks

I am a lipstick lip product whore.

If you have been following my blog and/or Instagram for a while now, you'll notice that most of my posts feature lipsticks, lip balms and lipglosses. Who doesn't like lipstick? Men certainly do (I don't buy their "oh it's too sticky, smelly, oily, too red, too bright, too dark" spiels and you shouldn't either). :P

So in my most recent trip to the UK I acquired some lipsticks from Topshop. Who knew that Topshop made some quality lipsticks with some of the most amazing pigmentation, wear and color? I certainly didn't. I first read about them in the beauty website, Into the Gloss and I am now addicted to their Top Shelf features, wherein celebrities, artists,  models, beauty editors and bloggers showcase their beauty cabinets and must haves. Both Lindsay Lohan and Alexa Chung sang high praises for Topshop's lipsticks. So after going out from under the rock I was living in, I hightailed it to Topshop at Leamington Spa's Priory Centre and did some damage.

Left to right - Brighton Rock, All about Me, Rio Rio, Innocent and Pillow Talk

Let's take a moment to appreciate the beauty that is Rio Rio.

A bright, orange red that somehow does not make the teeth look yellow and makes your mug shine bright like a diamond. It's no wonder that both Alexa Chung and Liv Tyler are big fans of this shade and often wear this particular shade on their travails on the red carpet. I say, if it's good enough for them, it certainly is good enough for me.

Pillow Talk.

The name. The associations. The pillow talk you imagine yourself having after wearing this on a date night. The Bridgette Bardot look it gives your lips, and did I mention that the soft, candy pink color makes your lips look plumper? This, by the way, is also a fave of Lindsay Lohan's and look at her lips.

Brighton Rock.

I first encountered Brighton Rock (the candy) on my second trip to the UK, when I dined alone at Bill's in Leamington Spa and the hostess gave a me a couple of large, brightly wrapped sticks of what I initially thought were firecrackers and told me that I had to try them. Probably seeing my (poorly concealed) astonishment of having been given something I clearly knew nothing about, she laughed and told me it was a popular British candy, something akin to Jawbreakers in the US. Free sweets? Score! Now, Brighton Rock (the lipstick) is a bright, salmon pink shade that makes me think of the now discontinued YSL Rouge Volupte 27 Rose Paris, one of my absolute, ultimate, holy grail status faves. Another score. I made sure to grab two.

All about Me.

A satiny fuchsia pink that leans towards the muted side of the hot pink spectrum. I honestly have yet to try this on my lips as I just swatched it on my hand and I knew I had to have it.

Innocent.

Who, me? :)
I got this browsing the jam-packed aisles of Topshop in Coventry on the day before Christmas. Imagine the chaos. It came in a gift set along with a cream blush for only 6 quid. 6 freaken pounds. 36 UAE dirhams. 4 US$. It was actually the last one on the table where all the gift sets were laid out and I made a mad dash for it and ran to the till, without even checking to see if the shade suited me. I'm so glad I did though because it  is a creamy pinky mauve that is right up my alley.

Now, I heard that Topshop cosmetics are being sold only in Topshop in Dubai Mall but I have yet to confirm. I will update this post with swatch/mug photos because as of the moment I can barely stand let alone take selfies as my right leg is currently out of commission.

If you are on the market for a lipstick that that is inexpensive but on par with even high end brands out there, I suggest you check out Topshop. And if you live in the UK, you're a lucky little duck.

Topshop cosmetics can be found in most, if not all Topshop stores across the United Kingdom and on www.Topshop.com. Lipsticks cost 8£ each.
